It was late, almost 11pm by the time she exited the car and finally entered through the big entrance door. It was as if she wasn’t really there, invisible even. No one spoke to her either, barely greeted her.
However, her enthusiasm subdued the second she found herself near the citadel, near her home, where for some reason guards were staring at her, avoiding eye contact. Thinking of delivering the gift to her husband made her all giddy with excitement - something she hadn’t felt in a while. On top of that, she glued the three positive pregnancy tests into the card as proof. Along with that, she wrote a card for him, in which she praised her husband, poured all her feelings for him into it and shared that they were awaiting their firstborn - it was just like a love letter. She bought a little white romper saying ‘Daddy’s favorite’ at the front and neatly wrapped it up in a tiny gift box. But the queen especially looked forward to announcing their pregnancy to him. Cuddling, kissing, eventually taking a bath together - it all sounded amazing to her.
Instead of spending time with strangers, she wanted to enjoy the evening with the love of her life. That’s why she decided to end her trip early. It had to improve - for the sake of their baby and their own happiness. But now they were expecting an offspring, an heir, a cute little baby created by their shared love for another. To her, it seemed like their relationship was slowly falling apart. She was used to him being a little more distant nowadays and always blamed their work for it. If only she had known what he was busy with, maybe she wouldn’t have been so overjoyed to see him again. Unfortunately, she couldn’t reach her husband, though. The queen was expecting a baby, their heir. The occasional morning sickness started making sense after she took a quick test. Sometimes they still tried to spark up their love life but that was rather rare. Both of them were usually too tired too engage in some proper love making by the time they finally fell into their bed. There was hardly any time left for intimacy in their relationship. They had been trying to conceive ever since they got married, but up until now, they had no luck. It’s what she wanted so desperately: a happy little family. Her sadness flew into overdrive when she noticed children were dancing around that couples legs. Every time she saw a couple, she missed him more. While she loved to help everyone, wanted to make sure that everyone was doing just fine, she still dearly missed her husband. But most times, she traveled on her own and slept in a half empty hotel bed.
It was her duty to meet up with families in need and other queens from all over the world. Stumbling to visits through the entire world, she was often gone from her precious king. She was the queen of Insomnia, cherished by an entire nation. Or at least that’s what they continuously told each other.įor 5 whole years, they had been dating, married for two. But all in all, they were happy, loved each other endlessly. It had ups and downs and tons of hiccups, too.
